News - Airdrop hype over? 89% crash within 3 months
A new report shows that most airdrops are rapidly declining in value. Of 62 airdrops analyzed, almost all had dropped significantly within three months of launch.
89 percent of tokens were in the minus after 90 days, with many dropping 50 percent or more, often within the first two weeks. A recent example is Hamster Kombat, which launched last week as the "biggest airdrop ever", but quickly turned out to be a big disappointment. This seems to confirm a growing trend: the airdrop hype seems to be over. This appears from a report From Keyrock.
Yet airdrops on Solana and Ethereum proved more resilient than on, say, Binance Chain. Successful airdrops also shared at least 10 percent of their total token inventory with the community. The biggest problem, however, seems to be diluted market capitalization. Many projects start with a small amount of released tokens and high inflation, creating strong selling pressure.
