Cryptomining devices discovered in highest administrative court

Curious discovery at the Supreme Administrative Court in Warsaw: An employee discovered mining equipment for mining cryptocurrencies in the ventilation shaft.

You don't come across a find like this every day. During maintenance work at the Supreme Court in Warsaw, an employee discovered mining equipment for mining cryptocurrencies.

As TVN24 reports, the devices were hidden in the ventilation shaft and under carpeting near the power supply systems. The Homeland Security Agency has been notified of the incident and the District Attorney's Office has launched an investigation.

Two employees of a maintenance company "who had checked the condition of systems in the building" were suspected. The contract with the company has already been terminated.

The devices, which have since been dismantled, are said to have consumed "electricity worth several hundred to thousands of zlotys per month." How long they were in operation and how much electricity was consumed will now be analyzed by IT experts.

Proceedings have been initiated "for theft of electricity," according to the Polish news website.
