Donald Trump: Presidential candidate makes his first Bitcoin transaction

Nearly $1,000 left Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in a New York bar. He paid the bill with Bitcoin.

Donald Trump is the first former president in U.S. history to conduct a transaction on the Bitcoin network. As seen in a Fox News video, he visited the Bitcoin bar PubKey in New York yesterday afternoon, Sept. 18.

According to Drew Armstrong, co-owner of the bar, he paid 998.70 US dollars for a round of burgers for attendees - in Bitcoin, reports Bloomberg.
For the transaction, the presidential candidate likely used the Lightning app Strike.
"Bitcoin is really happening," the business medium quotes Trump as saying. A video on the platform X shows the Republican conducting the Bitcoin transaction. The process took one minute.

The bar visit took place on the way to an election rally on Long Island.
"A former president, a potential future president, this is really coming of age for the Bitcoin community," said bar owner Thomas Pacchia. Trump repeatedly profiles himself as a pro-crypto candidate. At the Bitcoin 2024 Conference, the former president gave a keynote address on Bitcoin. There, he proclaimed the Bitcoin Nation USA.

We took a fact check on the election promises. With World Liberty Financial, the Trump family is launching its own DeFi project. Little is currently known about the project and the token WLFI. What is certain is that the WLFI token is only available to accredited investors from the US. One does not want a legal conflict with the SEC because of possible regulatory violations.

Recently, Trump disappointed crypto-commuity for not mentioning Bitcoin and the like in a podcast with Elon Musk. Even in the debate with Kamala Harris, the Republican did not mention a word about the crypto sector.
