News - Extradition of Terra founder allowed
By
The US and South Korea are currently engaged in an international search for the man allegedly responsible for the multi-billion dollar fraud at Terra (LUNA).
The founder of Terra (LUNA), Do Kwon, will be extradited to the US or South Korea. This is according to a ruling by a Montenegrin court, which approved his extradition, as reported by Reuters.
Kwon sits currently fixed in Montenegro for forging passports. Meanwhile, the US and his home country of South Korea are looking for the former head of Terraform Labs over a multi-billion dollar fraud.
His crypto project TerraUSD (UST) collapsed spectacularly in May 2022, after which Kwon fled to Europe. Police then arrested him in Montenegro after he tried to enter the country with forged passports.
Montenegro's acting justice minister must now decide to which of the two countries Kwon will be extradited. According to Reuters, Terra's founder has already agreed to extradition to South Korea. A decision is expected after the end of his current prison term.
