Flippening unlikely: Ethereum hits lowest point in 4 years

When one cryptocurrency is overtaken by another with a higher market capitalization, one speaks of a "flipping." With Bitcoin and Ethereum, however, this scenario seems more unlikely than ever.

Ethereum, in recent months, has not experienced the same growth as Bitcoin, the leader of the crypto market. Compared to last year, Ethereum is up 32%, while Bitcoin has gained nearly 150%.

As a result, Ether's price against Bitcoin has fallen to its lowest level since March 2021. A year ago, the Ether-Bitcoin ratio was twice as high.

The reason partly lies in Bitcoin's exceptionally strong price performance in recent months. At the same time, investors seem to be speculating on further declines in Ethereum.

However, there is also positive news: Ethereum ETFs are doing well. December 2024 turned out to be a record month for trading in Ethereum Spot ETFs.
