News - Hacker attack: X account of Truth Terminal founder promotes token
By
Due to a hack, the developer of the AI bot distributing the "Goatse Gospel" lost access to his personal X account. The hacker made off with 600,000 euros.
The X account of Truth Terminal-founder Andy Ayrey was hijacked by a hacker, who used the AI developer's influence to promote a cryptocurrency, capturing more than 600,000 euros. Ayrey's social media account, with more than 58,000 followers, shared a cryptic post announcing a new Infinite-Backrooms token.
The attached image included the cryptocurrency's contract address, which quickly led to a 25 million euro increase in value. The wallet that launched the token bought 124.6 million IB tokens for 38,400 euros, representing about 12.5 percent of the total supply. Within 45 minutes, the entire stock was sold, with a total profit of 602,500 euros, according to data from Dexscreener.
The token price then plummeted nearly 98 percent. Ayrey stated in an X message that he had temporarily regained control of his account, and indicated that the hacker had gained access through his phone provider, indicating a SIM swap attack. Whether this message was actually posted by Ayrey, however, is not clear.
Shortly thereafter, suspicious content reappeared on the account, but all of the hacker's posts have since been removed and Ayrey appears to have regained full control.
Truth Terminal is the AI bot that contributed to the rise of memecoin Goatseus Maximus (GOAT)'s market capitalization to 940 million euros. Coinbase is also capitalizing on the AI bot hype, offering customers a tool that allows them to create their own "AI Agents."
