News - Mark Cuban wants to become new SEC chairman
Gary Gensler's days as chairman of the SEC seem numbered. Now billionaire Mark Cuban has put himself forward as a possible successor.
With the upcoming change of power in the United States, there is a good chance that the top positions at the SEC will be refilled. Billionaire Mark Cuban has now offered to succeed the current chairman, Gary Gensler. In an interview with Fox News Cuban, when asked if he would want to serve in a cabinet led by Kamala Harris as Secretary of Commerce or Secretary of the Treasury, replied, "Chairman of the SEC, that's the position I would take." He added, "Someone has to replace Gary Gensler."
When asked about his opinion of Gensler, Cuban said Gensler is "terrible, especially for crypto." Whether the application was serious or playful was not made clear from the interview. It is also claimed that Elon Musk is aspiring to a position in Donald Trump's cabinet, should he win the election.
Mark Cuban is a multiple billionaire, owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team and a big fan of cryptocurrencies.
