While the United States is still discussing the creation of a Bitcoin reserve, a Polish politician is advocating its own BTC strategy. Will more countries get on the crypto train?
Following Trump's election victory in the US, the crypto community is speculating whether the Republican will put a Bitcoin reserve in the treasury. Meanwhile, Polish presidential candidate Sławomir Mentzen is following suit.
Poland should create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

If I become the President of Poland, our country will become a cryptocurrency haven, with very friendly regulations, low taxes, and a supportive approach from banks and regulators.

In a post on X, Mentzen stated, "Poland should create a strategic Bitcoin reserve." He showed his enthusiasm for the cryptocurrency by saying, "BTC to the Moon!"
Mentzen, a candidate in Poland's May 2025 presidential election, represents the right-wing Konfederacja party alliance, which consists of libertarians, nationalists, monarchists and Catholic traditionalists. He emphasizes the benefits of Bitcoin for national resilience and independence from traditional financial systems (TradFi).
"If I become president of Poland, our country will become a crypto paradise, with very friendly regulations, low taxes and support from banks and regulators," stated the 37-year-old politician.
Privately, Mentzen runs a tax and law firm that also offers crypto advice. By December 2023, he would have personally owned Bitcoin worth about five billion Polish zloty (currently €1.16 billion).
Poland is already outperforming Germany with real GDP growth of 2.96 percent. Yet the country is only ranked 24 in the Chainalysis Crypto Adoption Index 2024, three places behind Germany.
