News - Scammer pockets a million dollars
Through the X account of soccer star Kylian Mbappé, a crypto scammer with a scam token brought in $1 million.
A trader lost $1 million within an hour. The reason: He bought a suspected coin of soccer star Kylian Mbappé, according to a report from Lookonchain.
The account of Real Madrid's French star was previously taken over by a hacker. This one promoted a cryptocurrency called MBAPPE and pretended it was a product of the footballer.
The unknown trader hereby paid $1 million in the form of Solana (SOL) to buy counterfeit Kylian Mbappé (MBAPPE) tokens.
According to Lookonchain, he allegedly paid 7,156 SOL (worth $1.03 million). Within an hour after that, the purchased coins were only worth $9,200.
Someone created a new wallet and spent 7,156 $SOL($1.03M) to buy a #MEMEcoin named $MBAPPE in a single transaction, which is now only worth $9.2K.

Scam cryptocurrencies advertising celebrities are not rare these days. In early August, the memecoin TrumpCoin (DJT), which used the name of the former U.S. president, lost 95 percent of its value.
The post promoting the coin has since been removed by Kylian Mbappé and his team.
However, there were traders who actually made a profit with the MBAPPE token. One unknown buyer made nearly $124,000 profit. Possibly these were accomplices of the hacker.
