News - SEC invites public discussion rounds on crypto
The US stock market watchdog SEC's Crypto Task Force is organizing four public roundtables on regulation of cryptocurrencies. Anyone can participate.
The first meeting will take place on April 11 and will revolve around the topic of "custom regulation for crypto trading." A second round will follow on April 25, focusing on the secure custody of crypto-assets. On May 12, tokenization is on the agenda. This will include the overlap between traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi). The series will conclude on June 6 with a talk entitled: "DeFi and the American Mind."
Exactly what will be discussed during the meetings is not yet known. What is clear, however, is that all four sessions will be public and streamed live. Interested parties can register in advance with the SEC.
"The Crypto Task Force roundtables offer us the opportunity to follow lively discussions among experts on the committee's regulatory issues and possible solutions," said SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, also head of the Crypto Task Force.
The Crypto Task Force was created on Jan. 21 by current SEC Chairman Mark Uyeda. The task force is to help the commission establish clear rules for the crypto sector.
