News - Solana crashed again
New year, old problems? Solana crashed again today. For the first time in a year.
The Solana blockchain has crashed. This was first reported by several users on Twitter. After that, the Solana Foundation also confirmed it.
The last block was processed more than an hour ago, according to Solscan.
The SOL stock price responded with a drop of about 3.25 percent, slightly more than the competition. The problem has not yet been resolved (as of 11:30 a.m., Feb. 6, 2024). However, it is being worked on.
Engineers from across the ecosystem are investigating an outage on mainnet-beta. This thread will be updated as more information becomes available https://t.co/rfeioQ6BG9

The problem has been identified and a new upgrade is being implemented and tested (as of 11:45 a.m.).
In the first two years, Solana repeatedly struggled with network crashes.
The problem improved in 2023 and there is an update, Firedancer, announced for this year that should almost completely eliminate network crashes.
The last crash occurred almost a year ago, on February 25, 2023.
