News - TON offers new verification via palm scan
By
Toncoin and HumanCode are collaborating on a palmscan project. This increases TON by more than 20 percent.
Worldcoin's controversial iris scanners will soon have a new challenger. With a funding program of one million TON there will soon be strong incentives for the use of palm scanners for ID checks in the Toncoin ecosystem.
For the new initiative, the TON Society is partnering with the AI-company HumanCode. A voluntary tool allows Toncoin users to scan their palm for verification on the blockchain, while keeping data protected.
During the Hong Kong Web3 Festival, the two groups announced their future collaboration. In a message on X highlighted HumanCode The importance of protecting users' privacy.
Currently, the distributed tokens are worth more than US$6 million, due in part to TON's strong performance since the program's announcement. At the time of writing, the token stands at US$6.84, up 23.8 percent in the past 24 hours.
"In just seconds, the technology can prove that a user is a human being with a quick scan of the palm of the hand, while completely preserving the person's physical anonymity." according to the TON Society.
Community members can participate by connecting their TON wallet and performing the palm scan with a smartphone to verify their identity on the TON Society website.
Meanwhile, the previous leading project, Worldcoin's proof-of-personhood project, is under regulatory pressure in many countries.
Originally developed by the team behind the messaging app Telegram, the Open Network project was temporarily canceled in 2020. However, a group of developers resumed it in May 2021 led by the TON Foundation.
