News - Visa integrates USDC using Solana network
Visa is expanding its payment service with USDC on the Solana blockchain. The stablecoin is intended to speed up payments across borders.
Visa has expanded its payment function to Solana with the stablecoin USDC. The payment service provider speaks of a "modernization of money transactions across borders." The integration is intended to enable faster blockchain-based payments across borders.
"By using stablecoins such as USDC and global blockchain networks such as Solana and Ethereum, we help improve the speed of processing across borders and provide our customers with a modern option to easily send or receive money through Visa Checkout.", says Cuy Sheffield, Head of Crypto at Visa.
In pilot projects, Visa "already moved millions of USDC between its partners across the Solana and Ethereum blockchain networks to process authorized payments in fiat currency through VisaNet", Visa said in a press statement.
The payment service provider has already been using the Ethereum Blockchain for USDC transfers since 2021 as part of a pilot project in Australia. Earlier this year, Visa announced it was expanding their Web3 structures.
