This is not the first time the founder of Ethereum has committed to fighting the virus. Vitalik Buterin is providing a sum of millions for this purpose.
Vitalik Buterin and Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal together with India-based crypto fund "Crypto Relief" decide to invest US$100 million in Covid research.
The focus is on research on "Long Covid," the development of a medical infrastructure and a study on the transmission of the virus in closed spaces.
The results are expected to help in the development of new devices such as air filters and UV emitters.
Buterin said in a Twitter post on June 8 that Covid-19 and "future pandemics" will continue to be a "major risk in the 21st century."
Already last year, the two blockchain founders provided US$100 million for Covid research.
As of Nov. 26, Crypto Relief had raised US$473 million in donations, according to the website of the company. Crypto Relief has provided "90 million USDC from the initial donation." "And I am adding another 10 million USDC from my own funds," Buterin said.
