News - Vitalik Buterin donates $500,000 in Ethereum
The Ethereum-founder recently donated $532,000 in ETH to the Animal Welfare Fund, an animal welfare fund. This money comes from Memecoins with animal motifs that crypto users have sent him in recent months.
For years, investors have been sending the cryptocurrencies of their projects to well-known figures in the crypto world such as Vitalik Buterin. They do this to give their token some sort of legitimacy and potentially benefit from price increases when it becomes known that the Ethereum founder "owns" their cryptocurrency.
A good example of this is Shiba Inu (SHIB). The founders of this Memecoin, now the 13th largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization, once sent SHIB worth nearly seven billion dollars to Buterin. As a result, the price skyrocketed. Buterin, however, is not a fan of these tactics. In a post on X, he calls on the crypto community to donate directly to charities.
At 23:59:59 UTC, #Neiro on Ethereum, Ethereum founder Vitalik sold 40 ETH tokens. The proceeds will be donated to charity again. Thanks @VitalikButerin for donating to charity on behalf of Neirodog! #Neiro $Neiro #ETH #DOG

The programmer also wants to raise awareness in the current US election campaign. In a blog post, he calls out to the community, "If a politician is pro-crypto, you have to ask yourself: is he doing it for the right reasons?" "Buteren went on to ask: "Does he have a vision of technology and politics in the 21st century that aligns with yours?"
He recommended looking at the relevant candidates' crypto positions from five years ago and weighing whether they have changed since then - and thus could potentially change again.
