News - Worldcoin falls after big news
Sam Altman is moving to Microsoft. There he will take a leading role in AI development. The cryptocurrency Worldcoin is reacting erratically.
The tug-of-war over Sam Altman appears to have come to an end. Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, announced on X that the 38-year-old is moving to Microsoft. There he will lead "a new Advanced AI Research Team." Open AI co-founder Greg Brockman, who announced his resignation after Altman's dismissal, is now also part of Microsoft, Nadella announced. It remains to be seen what impact the change of position in the AI industry will have on ChatGPT developer Open AI and Microsoft. It has caused turbulence at the Sam Altman's crypto side project, Worldcoin.
After Worldcoin's price dropped significantly to $1.84 on Saturday, it jumped to $2.54 on Sunday. On Monday morning, the price rose another ten cents before Worldcoin appears to have leveled off at the current $2.30. This means the price is down four percent from the previous day and the cryptocurrency is now 30 percent away from its record high of $3.30.
It is still unclear if and to what extent the new role of Sam Altman, who founded the worldcoin development company Tools for Humanity in 2019, will have an impact on the crypto project. In any case, he has a more representative position there.
At the urging of the Board of Directors, Altman unexpectedly left Open AI over the weekend. This was followed by a brief internal power struggle. The Board of Trustees advocated that Altman stay on. However, the board "no longer has confidence in his ability to continue to lead OpenAI," according to the official declaration. Altman had not been "consistently open in his communications with the board." Open AI's previous CTO, Mira Murati, was appointed interim CEO.
Since Sam Altman is now moving to Microsoft, he no longer appears to be dependent on an offer from Charles Hoskinson. The lead Cardano developer courted Altman when he had just been fired: "If you are interested in creating a decentralized large language model, please contact me," the developer wrote on X, probably rather jokingly. Altman did not respond.
Sam @sama since you have some free time now. If you are interested in doing a decentralized LLM, then hit me up. Would be a fun Cardano Partnerchain
