"Worldcoin is now live," the project announced July 24 on its Twitter page. The launch marks the launch of the proprietary WLD token. Crypto exchanges Binance, Bybit, OKx, Gate, and Houbi have already listed the token.
"You can now download Worldapp, the first protocol-compatible wallet, and reserve your share," aldus Worldcoin.

Project users must apply for a World ID. To do so, biometric data are collected from the company via an iris scan. The project is considered controversial. Iris scans allow users to prove their identity online. More than two million have already been verified and now hope to be rewarded with the token.
Critics of ChatGPT creator Sam Altman's project have raised privacy concerns. At the time of writing WLD traded at $2.33.
