Chainlink has been one of the toppers in recent days. Now the company is expanding into Base, Coinbase's Layer 2 solution.

Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is now active on Base.

This makes Coinbase's Ethereum scaling solution the sixth blockchain to integrate CCIP. Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Optimism and Arbitrum are already on it.

"The scalability and technological creativity of Base as a Layer 2 solution, combined with an ever-growing number of Chainlink services, is a boon for developers looking to build next-generation cross-blockchain applications and services," said Johann Eid, chief business officer at Chainlink Labs.

CCIP was launched in July. The protocol is designed to enable smooth interconnection of different blockchains.

Base was launched in August. The network currently scores with high activity. On Sept. 27, it recorded 13.9 transactions per second, more than Ethereum's mainnet.
