Ripple seeks to avoid SEC appeal

Ripple's lawyers said in an Aug. 16 letter that an appeal is a purely legal matter. The SEC's request raises no new legal questions.

Moreover, an immediate appeal would not help end the years-long legal dispute. In short, the court should deny the SEC's request for an interlocutory appeal, the lawyers said. An interlocutory appeal occurs when a decision of a lower court is appealed while other aspects of the case are pending.

Following the court victory, the price of XRP skyrocketed by more than 30 percent. At the time of writing, the cryptocurrency is trading at $0.59 and has fallen about 21 percent over the past 30 days.
