News - Trump vs. Harris: Equal score in crypto betting
Former US President Donald Trump has lost 13 percentage points in betting on the US presidency at crypto betting site Polymarket and is now tied with challenger Kamala Harris.
Bookmakers currently give both candidates about a 50:50 chance of winning the presidency. A few weeks ago, when Joe Biden was still the Democrat candidate, Trump was clearly ahead. Right after the debate with Biden, Trump was at 72 percent. In the past month alone, Donald Trump has lost 13 points, while Harris has gained 34 percentage points.
The reason for the losses in betting is the ever-improving polls for Kamala Harris. While the former president was ahead by an average of 2 to 4 points nationally against Biden, Harris is now ahead by 1 to 2 points.
Lower odds on the presidency also caused Trump-based memecoins to drop significantly in value. The first Trump token MAGA fell nearly 38 percent and TREMP, a memecoin on Solana, dropped 40 percent.
Donald Trump has caused a stir in the crypto community primarily because of his appearance at the Bitcoin conference in Nashville and his positive statements about Bitcoin. Kamala Harris' views on cryptocurrency are still fairly unclear at this point.
